About this blog title

I cannot tell you how many times I have shown up at events with a couple of cameras around my neck, a gadget bag full of odds & ends and a lighting kit and have been asked that question. If it happened once every few years, that would be one thing. But it happens a LOT. It's like getting pulled over by the police and he's standing there with uniform, gun, flashing lights and asking him "Are you a cop?" I would love to come back with a witty reply, such as "No, I am Jesus. Don't you recognize my beard?" However, I cannot be that rude.

Snowy Day, I Shovel Driveway, Chaumont, NY

Initial path shoveled in snow in our driveway.

It was a blustery, snow day here in Chaumont, NY today. High temperature was 21. I spent about two hours shoveling our sidewalk and driveway. It was windy and cold but I enjoyed being out in the crisp fresh air. My right shoulder has been bothering me much lately with a chronic pain. Shoveling snow however didn't aggravate it.

2 hours after I began our driveway is cleared of snow.

I Take 11,000+ Steps Shoveling Snow, December 2, 2024

Clay St apartment house during lake effect snowstorm.

I shoveled snow at our Watertown apartment houses after the lake effect snowstorm dumped about 4 feet of the white stuff in the city. This would bee the big storm right after Thanksgiving Day. I spent three hours at Clay Street cutting through the snowbank and clearing section of te driveway. Then I went to our Franklin St place where I helped my daughter S shovel section of her driveway. I spent better than an hour there. It was satisfying work, great outdoor exercise. I truly enjoy it. My iPhone recorded that I walked 11,979 steps this day.

Jan 19 2024 I Shovel Snow at Clay St Apartment

Back stairs and basement door at our 418 Clay St apartment house, Watertown.

We have had quite a lot of snow here in Northern NY. 18 to 24 inches fell in Watertown. I spent a couple hours this afternoon clearing a big portion of the driveway at our Clay St apartment as well as cleared it from the back stairs. I started at 1:00 and was finished by 3:00. It was pleasant work, outdoor temperature was about 10 degrees. As I write this it is 11:00PM and temperature here in Chaumont is 1 degree.

I also changed the low beam bulb in our 2019 Kia Sorento today. Bulb cost $19.00 at Wal-Mart.

Chatted with brother Mark in Florida. He gave some wild news.

I Shovel Sidewalk Through Snowbank ; Day 7 of Broken Femur

Shoveling driveway at 807 Franklin St, Watertown, NY.  Working slow but steady I was finished a little less than an hour & half.

It is Wednesday December 28, 2022. The snow has finally stopped. There is a thaw coming. 50 degrees before the week in through. It is the 7th day of the Better Half being in the hospital recovering from a broken femur. She received some lovely flowers from my sisters today. The flowers should have arrives a few days ago but delivery stalled for those days because of the blizzard. This was first chance I had to shovel the snow on my daughter S' sidewalk. A plow truck cleared her driveway yesterday ad in the course of it created a huge snowbank that I had to shovel through. I started at 10:43 and never thought to snap a starting photo until 10:54, so the digging had already commenced. I finished at 12:09. That's about an hour and a half. I worked slowly and methodically. I chopped and crumbled the hard packed snow with a steel coal shovel. I then scooped up the resulting piles with a plastic snow shovel. My goal was to bare the sidewalk so the mailman could get from the driveway to the mailbox on her front porch.
