About this blog title

I cannot tell you how many times I have shown up at events with a couple of cameras around my neck, a gadget bag full of odds & ends and a lighting kit and have been asked that question. If it happened once every few years, that would be one thing. But it happens a LOT. It's like getting pulled over by the police and he's standing there with uniform, gun, flashing lights and asking him "Are you a cop?" I would love to come back with a witty reply, such as "No, I am Jesus. Don't you recognize my beard?" However, I cannot be that rude.

Stroll On Broadway and Wine Cruise

What I did today, Saturday August 23, 2025.

Aboard the wine cruise on the St Lawrence River at sunset.

I played two, one hour sets at the Stroll On Broadway event in Cape Vincent this morning. Oddly, I never snapped any photos while there. First set was n front of The Little Book Shop from 11:30 to 12:30. The 2nd set was at Cup of Joy from 1:00 to 2:00. They both went well and I received many compliments. Got back home at 3:00. Brothers Ron & Al were at my house. They were out for a motorcycle ride along the St Lawrence River and were meeting brother Dale on his motorcycle in Chaumont.

The evening we spent on a wine cruise of the St Lawrence River. That was by Coyote Moon Winery and Clayton Boat Tours. It was great fun. Ticket purchase included bottle of wine and a snack box. Beer and wine slushies were also available during the cruise. Most of the passengers were affected by the spirits and the atmosphere became very festive. It was great fun and entertaining. We were back home about 9:00pm.

Guitar Gig and Floor Painting Today

Orion Art Gallery Summer Festival promo piece.

I played guitar from 11:00- 1:00 today at the Orion Art Gallery as part of their Summer Arts Festival. I didn't get any photos of myself to post here. Later I gave our Clay St house a second coat of paint on the front porch floor. A few days ago on Wednesday I gave the floor the first coat of paint. I still need to paint the area in front of the stairwell door.

Panorama view of front stairwell door. This section remains to be painted.

Guitar Gig for ARC and Price of Gas Today September 8, 2022

Thursday, September 8, 2022.

Today I had a guitar gig at  The Arc Jefferson St. Lawrence annual fund raising event, Sunset at the Park. The event is held at Thompson Park, Watertown, NY.

I arrived at 3:30, played 4:30 to 6:00. I was followed by musician Sara Ada. Sara is a wonderful singer and ukulele player.

Earlier in the day I mowed the lawn.

The price of gas has been outrageously high here in Northern NY for quite a few months. Today I fueled up at the Valero pumps at the store in Dexter. Price was $4.09 a gallon. down from $4.39 a gallon a few days ago.

March 25, 2022 I find a 36 year old check, uncashed

 I find a 36 year old check

A check for guitar gig from May, 1986 that I never cashed.

Today I found an unopened letter amid some old notebooks and memorabilia that has been stored in my garage for many years. Inside was check written out to me for $25.00, payment for a guitar gig I did at Jefferson Community College, Watertown, NY, back in May of 1986. I can't believe that I never opened it. Never cashed the check. It's crazy.

The event was for graduating nursing students receiving pins. The bank was Marine Midland Bank which is no longer in operation.

A check from 36 years ago that I never cashed. Found it while cleaning out the garage and throwing useless old records & memorabilia away.

On another note, It was a grey, cloudy day in Chaumont, NY. Temperature stayed around 40 degrees. I raked up part of our yard. That was good exercise. We had chicken, French fries and peas for dinner. I believe it's the 28th day of the Russia - Ukraine War. Russia has taken quite a beating. Ukraine has suffered a great deal of damage. It is also the 3rd day of applying Efudex cream to my forehead as treatment for actinic keratosis.

September 11, 2018 Guitar gig at Clayton Yacht Club, Clayton NY

Had a wonderful evening last night playing guitar at a private birthday party. The event took place in the upper club house of the Clayton YachtClub, Clayton NY. It is situated on th St. Lawrence Over. The upper club house is a rustic old cottage with green shutters. The party was hosted by ET. This is the 2nd time she has hired me for her birthday. Among the guests this evening was famed underwater photographer David Doubilet. evidently my playing made an impression upon him. It turns out that he is a guitar and banjo player. We had a nice chat afterward. For the most part my confidence level was high and I did a good job playing my repertoire. ET and her guests were pleased.
