About this blog title

I cannot tell you how many times I have shown up at events with a couple of cameras around my neck, a gadget bag full of odds & ends and a lighting kit and have been asked that question. If it happened once every few years, that would be one thing. But it happens a LOT. It's like getting pulled over by the police and he's standing there with uniform, gun, flashing lights and asking him "Are you a cop?" I would love to come back with a witty reply, such as "No, I am Jesus. Don't you recognize my beard?" However, I cannot be that rude.

Medical Stuff Eats Up the Day

Some type of daisies at Onondaga Lake Park, Liverpool, NY

Yesterday (Wednesday the 8th) we left the house at 6:30 AM to make it to Syracuse  where Better Half had a colonoscopy scheduled for 8:30AM. Too much to go into now but later in the day,  at 3:00, she had a scan of some kind that can be done in lieu of a traditional colonoscopy. Between appointments we shopped a bit at Wegman's and hung out at Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool. Very war and WINDY. Anyhow, all went well and we were home about 5:00. We were both quite tired. The day was shot in the ass at that point. We had pulled pork sandwiches for dinner.

Flowers Doing Well, No Frost Here Yet

Flowers purchased back in the Spring are still doing nicely here in October. I snapped this shot this morning.

All of the flowers and plants we bought in Spring are still doing well in October. Very often by now we have had a frost that kills them off. It was a lovely day here in Northern NY, sunny and some gentle wind. I spent the bulk of my day at our Clay St. apartment house in Watertown. Cleaning a vacant unit. It will be ready for rent soon. About all I have left to do is replace the bedroom carpet. I have thoroughly cleaned the kitchen, appliances, and bathroom. I have been there a total of three days, about 5 hours each.

Garden Plants, Oil Change, Covid Test, Birthday Sunday May 22, 2022

Some of our flower pots ready to put to use. I bought flowers a week ago, hopefully have them potted tomorrow.

Weather today: High was 71 in the morning. Cooled to 60 by late afternoon. Cloudy and overcast ll day with some light rain at times.

It was a full day for us here in Chaumont, NY.  I finally got our tomato and cucumber plants in the garden . Still have flower pots and containers to do.  I took a break around noon and had a delicious Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA. I set the bottle down on the bench amid some flowers and was moved to snap a picture of it. Totally unplanned, a serendipitous visual moment.

Sierra Nevada Torpedo extra IPA. One of my favorite beers. Gardening never tasted better.

After that I changed the oil in my 2011 Kia Sedona mini van. That chore was overdue and went off  without a hitch.

For a couple of days the Better Half has been feeling tired and run down. Enough so that we decided to give her an over the counter Covid 19 test. It was a brand called iHealth. Very simple to do. Results show up in 15 minutes. Her result was negative. No Covid 19 present. An oximeter reading showed she has normal oxygen levels.

At 5:30 we visited the Better Half's daughter B in Rutland to celebrate her daughter's 11th birthday. We had pizza, salad, and an ice cream cake from Carvel.

Chicory Weed Flower

Some times, for no explicable reason something catches my eye and I am compelled to photograph. Such is the case with the Chicory Weed flower. I was taking the ladder down at my Frankin St. house when I spotted the purple bloom. (Or is it blue?) So I snapped it with the iPhone V.

Spring Flowers

I awoke early today, about 6:00am. Got up and put is some pretty good guitar practice. The Sun came up blazing in a clear sky. I painted a second coat of paint on one of the dining room walls. Then I spent about three hours doing yard work. Picking up tree branches, sticks, raking up old leaves and the like. That's when I spotted the Spring flowers. Just this one small group in the entire back yard. And, it is still Winter here in Chaumont, NY. The first day of Spring is Tuesday. The temperature out doors is wonderful 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

I am now going to grab a beer (I know, Lent is not over & I gave up alcohol, but my understanding is it's OK on Sundays), and play a littlle bit of guitar outside before going to my mother's house. Hope all of you are having a good day.

Impatien With Rain Drops

IT has been hot and humid here in Chaumont. Last night it rained and when I stepped outside I spotted this Impatien speckled with water drops. So I did an about face and went back inside to get a camera & snap away. I used a Nikon D300 digital camera.

Daisys

Today these Daisys caught my eye. There is much for me to do during the non-Winter months and keeping up with the blog has taken a back seat. It's a shame too, because almost everyday I have something I could talk about. But over all I find I am too tired, or simply wish to relax at the end of the day.

Yesterday was Father's Day and I was rather burned out. I spent the morning stacking fire wood. Then I replaced the brake pads on the front wheel's of the Better Half's Dodge Caravan. Then at 4:30 we visited her daughter's house where we had a nice cook out and a few beers. In the mean time my Son stopped by our home in Chaumont & we were not there. However, he dropped off a nice card and a nice hat for a Father's Day gift. That was nice. I'll have to post a photo of it at another time as I am not anywhere near home at the moment.

Got to bed at 11:00pm and pretty much slept through 'til 8:30 this morning.
I finally feel more rested than I have for the past two weeks.

I hope all is well in your World, wherever that may be.
