About this blog title

I cannot tell you how many times I have shown up at events with a couple of cameras around my neck, a gadget bag full of odds & ends and a lighting kit and have been asked that question. If it happened once every few years, that would be one thing. But it happens a LOT. It's like getting pulled over by the police and he's standing there with uniform, gun, flashing lights and asking him "Are you a cop?" I would love to come back with a witty reply, such as "No, I am Jesus. Don't you recognize my beard?" However, I cannot be that rude.

Halloween 2024 at Our House in Chaumont, NY

Our candy supply for 2024 Halloween Trick or Treaters

Halloween here in Chaumont, NY was exceptionally wrm and nice. A bit breezy and 72 degrees. That resulted in a record number of trick or treaters showing up at our door. We always hand out full size candy bars that we buy at Sam's Club. We had 140 candy bars and had 160 trick or treaters. When we got down to 20 bars grandson N and his girlfriend ran to the Dolar General and picked up a couple of mixed bag  small bars. Thast carried us through to the end. Most years we average 100 to 120 trick or treaters.

Me enjoying a beer and the warm weather, all set for the Trick or Treaters.

Guitar Gig at Orion Art Gallery

I play guitar at Orion Art Gallery's Halloween party. I love this photo
snapped by artist Alice Elisabeth.

This is photo of me playing guitar at Orion Art Gallery, Mullin St, Watertown, NY. I felt I played well and the music was received well.  Played 6-8:00, enjoyed good food and company.

It was a beautiful day here in the north Country, temperature hitting 72 degrees, sunny. The Better Half & I had breakfast a a diner/bakery here in the village of Chaumont.  Afterwards I raked some leaves, prepared some food for tomorrow's Halloween party at our house. The gig went well and finished the evening watching the5th game of the World Series between the NY Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers won tonights game 7-6, clinching the World Series title.

A roast corn dip, a buffalo chcken dip, croghan bologna, oilive bread, and apizza from Valee Peetza. For beer we had the usual Labatt Blue and Saranac Pumpkin Ale. The Better Half was still suffering from a diverticulitis attack. Overall it was a very nice evening, accentd by about perfect weather.

Halloween 2020 in the year of COVID 19

Halloween in Chaumont, NY, during this COVID 19 year. We were wondering what kind of turnout we would have for Trick or Treaters. Year in and year out we average about 100. I think our highest year was 115. A slow year would be 85. Most years we get a 90 to 100. Anyhow, not knowing what to expect we got prepared for 110 trick or treaters, knowing full well it would likely be slow because of the Corona Virus. We counted 53 last night. Half of a normal year.

We had a small family group here, 7 of us. The Better Half & I, her older daughter's family  of four, and a girlfriend of one of the grand sons. We had a great time. Food was Hanky Pankys, Roasted corn dip, a bar-b q beef dip, chicken wing dip, cheese & salami platter, meatballs & Italian sausage. Various beers, crackers and cherry mojitos. We also had a nice wood fire going in the backyard. The weather was pretty nice, a little cooler than some recent years, in the mid 40's.

Halloween 2020, year of the COVID Virus. Phot of our house in Chaumont, NY. We had 53 trick or treaters this year, half of what we normally get.                                                 photo by Gary Walts
