About this blog title

I cannot tell you how many times I have shown up at events with a couple of cameras around my neck, a gadget bag full of odds & ends and a lighting kit and have been asked that question. If it happened once every few years, that would be one thing. But it happens a LOT. It's like getting pulled over by the police and he's standing there with uniform, gun, flashing lights and asking him "Are you a cop?" I would love to come back with a witty reply, such as "No, I am Jesus. Don't you recognize my beard?" However, I cannot be that rude.

White Face Mountain

Today the Better Half & I tood a drive to Whte face Mountain in the Adirondacks with her daughter & family. So I had my picture snapped at the summit. This is another valid use of photography: documenting one's life. This is not great photo, nor does it have any artistic merit. It's scrapbook material. Now, the photo would have taken on a different significance had something tragic had happened to me shortly after, such as tumbling down a clif, or getting mauled by a bear. Or imagine if we noticed some odd artifact in the lake in the far background and began blowing it up, larger & larger, until we suddenly realize, "My God, it's the Loch Ness monster!" Well, then you would have something else indeed!

Anyhow, we had a lovely day. Left the house in Chaumont at 7:30 this morning, got back at 10:00pm. The weather was ideal. Sun & clouds, some breezy wind, cool temperatures. We also spent a few hours at the North Pole. Through it all I was never cold, but never broke a sweat. Nice.
