About this blog title

I cannot tell you how many times I have shown up at events with a couple of cameras around my neck, a gadget bag full of odds & ends and a lighting kit and have been asked that question. If it happened once every few years, that would be one thing. But it happens a LOT. It's like getting pulled over by the police and he's standing there with uniform, gun, flashing lights and asking him "Are you a cop?" I would love to come back with a witty reply, such as "No, I am Jesus. Don't you recognize my beard?" However, I cannot be that rude.

Thanksgiving 2024: Turkey Prep and Soap Bubbles

Detail of soap bubbles in a coffee cup. Most fascinating.

It is November 28, 2024, Thanksgiving Day. I thawed our 23 pound frozen turkey by immersing it in  water in cooler. Changing the water every 30 minutes. It worked well. It had already begun thaw in the refrigerator for about 3 days befor finishing it yesterday in the water bath. This morning I dried the bird, rubbed it with olive oil and sprinkled Bells Poultry seasoning all over it. I also put some carrots, onions, and celery chunks in the cavity. During clean up my eye caught the soap bubbles in a coffee cup. Fascinating.

Soap Bubbles caught my eye during cleanup this morning.

Thawed the turkey in a water bath, changing it every 30 minutes.

What Caught My Eye Today

Dishes and sop bubbles. It's what caught my eye today. iPhone photo copyright Gary Walts 2022

I never know just what is going to catch my eye and prompt me to snap a photograph. Very often it is dishes and soap bubbles in the sink. That was the case this morning. I made some marinade for some chicken thighs. I placed the dirty utensils and bowl in the sink. Cleaned up the counters and stashed the chicken in the fridge. Looked back at the sink and saw the image presented here.  An impromptu still life.
