About this blog title

I cannot tell you how many times I have shown up at events with a couple of cameras around my neck, a gadget bag full of odds & ends and a lighting kit and have been asked that question. If it happened once every few years, that would be one thing. But it happens a LOT. It's like getting pulled over by the police and he's standing there with uniform, gun, flashing lights and asking him "Are you a cop?" I would love to come back with a witty reply, such as "No, I am Jesus. Don't you recognize my beard?" However, I cannot be that rude.

Photos Of Red Paint

Gilidden exterior house paint separated after sitting for over a year. It caught my eye.

It was a warm day that reached 71 degrees here in Chaumont, NY. I need to paint our garage but today just painted the doors. I open a new can of paint that was in need of stirring as it has been sitting for a year or so. I took the lid off the can and instantly was drawn to photographing it. It "caught my eye" as I like to say. So I present here a few of the snaps I made.

It took about half an hour to paint one door. After this job I went to Clay St and fixed the garbage disposal in Apt 2. There was a fragment of metal in itthat was creating huge amount of noise.

Our garage doors being painted. Will require a 2nd coat.

Cleaning the paint brush in our "slop" sink. This too caught my eye.

Work at Clay St. Today

Apt #1 Radiator, recently painted, with faux wainscoting panel behind it.

I spent a good portion of the day at our Clay St apartment house, ongoing repairs and maintenance prior to listing it for sale. I washed the front porch floor. Plan to paint it, or at least half of it tomorrow. I then fitted a piece of paneling behind the living room radiator in apartment 1. I discovered an elctrical outlet behind that radiator. The radiator boiler system must have been installed some years after the electricity and the outlet was never removed. It's impossible to access. It's not visible either. I discovered it because the pnel was catching on it as I was slipping it behind the radiator.  When I got home a played through some of my guitar repertoire for about an hour.

Painting Porch Floor & Price of Gas

Gas price at Valero in Watertown on Monday, October 10, 2022

The price of gas on Monday, October 10th at the Valero station on Arsenal St, Watertown, was $3.29 a gallon for the 87 octane. The other fuels were, obviously, more expensive. This Valero station, by the way, is the lowest price for gas in this region. In our village of Chaumont it is $3.85 / gallon. Ridiculous.

Price of home heating oil that we ordered the same day was $4.29 a gallon. These prices are outrageous.

Otherwise it was another beautiful fall day here with sun and high temp of 67 in Chaumont. I spent about three hours sanding and painting half of the front porch floor of our Clay St. apartment house. Wise to do it while the apartment is vacant. I am hoping for one more nice day or too sometime soon so I can paint the other half. When I got back home to Chaumont I mowed the lawn. This evening we watched Survivor on CBS.
