About this blog title

I cannot tell you how many times I have shown up at events with a couple of cameras around my neck, a gadget bag full of odds & ends and a lighting kit and have been asked that question. If it happened once every few years, that would be one thing. But it happens a LOT. It's like getting pulled over by the police and he's standing there with uniform, gun, flashing lights and asking him "Are you a cop?" I would love to come back with a witty reply, such as "No, I am Jesus. Don't you recognize my beard?" However, I cannot be that rude.

Hauled Away a Mattress, Been Busy, Tired,

My 2011 Kia Sedona van loaded with king size mattress and box springs.

I have been very busy lately which has been leaving me tired and lazy at the end of the day, thereby blowing off blog entries.

Today my Celebrity Brother Al helped me haul a king size mattress  and two box springs to the Jefferson County Transfer Station. Was tough getting that giant mattress down the stairs and outside. Al managed to fold it in half and I wrapped duct tape around it. That compacted it enough that it fit in my Kia Sedona van. Paid $20.00 scale fee at the transfer station and was rid of it. We are purchasing a new, adjustable bed with controllers for each side.

Finished Kia Sedona Brake Job

New brake rotor, pads and caliper successfully installed on 2011 Kia Sedona

Today I finished replacing the brake pads, rotors and calipers on our 2011 Kia Sedona van. It came out great. Brakes and goes down the road nice and smoothly. Driver side rotor removal was difficult. The passenger side went smoothly EXCEPT: One of the bolts holding caliper bracket in place was very difficult to break free. But my large DeWalt battery powered impact driver got it apart.

ALSO, a little trouble with passenger side caliper. Yesterday I Got new one at Auto Zone. Got home and discovered one of the pins was seized up. Could not budge it. Took it back. Watetown store didn't have another one but their Evans Mills Store did. I get home and go to install it and this one came with the wrong metal clips that the brake pads slide on! So back I go to Evans Mills and get the correct ones. This morning it all came together nicely.

I now need to get the exhaust system repaired. It's very loud.

Later today I made a batch of Jamaican Jerk Marinade. In the evening we went to B & M's place for dinner.

Reciept for brake purchased at Auto Zone.

Another Auto Repair: Fuel Pump for 2011 Kia Sedona

Our 2011 Kia Sedona on a lovely April Day, perfect for repair work.

Today I replaced the fuel pump in my 2011 Kia Sedona van. The van has 176,315 miles on it. For the past year I've thought the pump was beginning to fail. Sometimes the engine would crank over longer than normal to start. Once in awhile it seemed to lose power. On Monday, April 29, it stalled as I was backing out of the Clay St. driveway. Very difficult to get it started again. Finally got it to run poorly and managed to drive it home. Brother Al followed me, just in case.

By the time I gio home it was running good. The next morning it started right up. ButI knew it was time to replace the fuel pump. Got one yesterday at Auto Zone in Evans Mills. It was $288.35 with the tax. This comes about a week after repairing the brakes.

The job was easy. Hardest part was removing the seat to access the fuel pump cover.

March 31, 2022 Kia Sedona Rear Brake Job $455.10

Picked up my 2011 Kia Sedona van from D & S Garage in Brownville, NY today after they did a rear wheel brake job and repaired leaking brake line. The total came to $455.10

They replaced a section of brake line that leaked where it was clamped ro the frame. They also replaced one rear brake caliper, both rotors and pads.  I do a lot of my own automotive repairs, but simple didn't want to deal with this one. I have had this garage do various repairs on my vehicles over the years. In general their work is very good and they are quick getting the job done. I highly recommend them. Their prices too are very competitive and usually less than their competitors.

Bill from D&S Garage, Brownville, NY, for rear brake job on 2011 Kia Sedona.

On another note we had partly sunny weather and some rain today. High temperature reached 62 F.
I spent some time on my garage clean up project and also visited my Celebrity Brother for a bit.
