March Snow, Price of Gas & More

St. Vasllio's Greek Orthodox Church, Watertown, NY. Particularly scenic snow for mid March here in the North Country.

Yesterday, Wednesday March 15, I bought gas at the Valero station located at Court & Arsenal Streets, Watertown, NY. Price for regular 87 octane was $3.38 a gallon.

Snow in Watertown, NY at St. Vasilio's Greek Orthodox Church, Franklin St. Quite a scenic amount of snow for mid March here. 

Today I checked on a tenant that says his place was broken into. He called police about it. Police think he is faking his story. He said it happened while he was in his bedroom, door closed, wearing earbuds while listening to music. He thinks person or persons entered to get out of the cold and take some drugs. I don't think his claim holds any water.

After that I went to the Sportsman's Barber Shop and got a haircut. Cost: $14.00 plus a $6.00 tip. 20bucks. 

Went toTarget and got birthday cards. Went to Kinney's Drugs & picked up iron supplement for the Better Half. 

Sam's Club where I picked up avocados, medjool dates. 

Got home and made dinner: Roasted chicken thighs, baked potato, and green beans. 

8:00 pm watched Survivor.

Went Christmas shopping yesterday with the Better Half and in the course of it picked up our Christmas tree. I'll put up photos of that later. In the mean time the snowy tree in the field was taken in Calcium, NY at the Gracy farm. The snowman is in the front yard of one of my neighbors here in Chaumont.

Rainbow in Town of Cape Vincent, N.Y.

The morning after Hurricane Sandy and we are in fine shape here in Chaumont, NY. Our yard was blanketed with a thick layer of leaves yesterday. When we awoke this morning they were mostly gone. The high winds from the storm carried them off somewhere. It appears a great many of them were piled near the neighbors fence and some blew off to the shcool yard. The Better Half and I took a drive to Cape Vincent to check out a our favorite Lake Ontario swimming spot. Then we went into the village where we also checked our favorite St. Lawrence River swimming spot. Then we ate a late breakfast at Aubrey's Restaurant. Driving home it started to rain while the sun was shining and a rainbow appeared. So, we stopped and I took a snap of it. Nikon D300, Nikon 17-55mm f2.8 lens.

Maple Tree In Fall

I was driving to my Mother's house to take her to a doctors appointment when I came upon the Maple tree in Brownville, N.Y. (This was yesterday). I stopped and snapped it with a Nikon D700 and a Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 lens.

Tomorrow The Fog Will Clear

Tomorrow we who are employed at the Post-Standard in Syracuse, N.Y. will learn our fate. For a month we have been working in a cloud of uncertainty as to whether we will have a job or not come January 1, 2013. Supposedly all employees have been going through an evaluation. Tomorrow some will be offered a position in a "new" company and others will be laid off. This is a result of the company betting it's future on a stronger digital, internet presence. The daily paper will be printed only three days a week.
